Sometimes, the wishes of children can be poignant and somewhat sad. This storyteller used to work part-time at a seasonal Santa pop-up. They’ve heard their fair share of wild, sad, and unhinged requests from little kids. But there is one kid in particular that has stuck with them for years.

This storyteller heard a kid ask Santa for the unconditional love of his parents. Parents should love their kids unconditionally to begin with, so it’s kind of telling that this kid was asking for something so theoretical and intangible.
