At the age of 16 and with an infant, Vicki knew she wanted to leave her old life behind and have a fresh start somewhere else. Thinking her best shot at a new life was Hollywood, Vicki started working at Grauman’s Chinese Theater on Hollywood Boulevard. That’s when she met Earle Lamb, a 47-year-old clothing manufacturer who had a lot of money.
She saw this wealthy older man as her chance to have a new beginning and a new life. At the age of 16 and with big dreams of a different life, Vicki only saw in Lamb the things that he offered her – namely, money and constant attention – and not the things he wanted from her… When he proposed to her after knowing her for a few weeks – she didn’t hesitate and saw this as her ticket out of the life she was living.
