#15: Snakes Aren’t So Smart
Okay, this myth is pretty entertaining. The idea that snakes are out there, judging us, deciding whether or not we’re worth eating, is pretty wild. But here’s the thing: it’s not true. Snakes don’t have the cognitive ability to “size us up,” and if they did, they would probably need sufficient time and space to do so.

Most snakes can go weeks or even months without a meal. So, if you’re out hiking and you happen to come across a snake, don’t worry about it trying to eat you. Just give it some space and let it go on its way. And, as a bonus fact, did you know snakes don’t hear anything?
