I guess my Americanness is showing, because this next one is rather confusing to me. Why would you say “You should come to my house some time” if you didn’t actually want them to come to your house some time? There’s so many things that you could have said that didn’t invite an invitation.

Things like, “It’s been really nice to meet you.” Or “I hope you have a safe journey home.” Or, “I have enjoyed our conversation but not enough that I actually want to do anything to further the relationship, I really hope you haven’t read anything into all of this, please never contact me again.” Why not just be more straightforward about things?
